Two thirds of an early KJV loose in its binding,
a poor man's copy of a cool old Bible with the old style black letter text
The Holy Bible. Cambridge: Tho. and John Buck, printers to the University of Cambridge, n.d. (c.1630). Quarto, calf, a bit torn and the Bible very loose, and tattered, still partly attached by the cords, but essentially disbound, and missing a page in Psalms and in Ezekiel and everything after Nahum,( ie there is no New Testament). With a fragment of a Sternhold and Hopkins psalter and a fragment of a Common Prayer. The title page is soiled and damaged as are some other leaves, but some of the leaves are clean, although the side notes are cropped at the edge.
The prayer for King Charles I is present in the remaining portion of the Book of Common Prayer, along with prayers for his sister Mary and her husband Frederick the Elector, indicating a date between 1626 and 1649.
